The White House says President Barack Obama's limousine will soon carry the District of Columbia's "Taxation Without Representation" license plate.

The White House says Obama has lived in D.C. for four years and has seen how patently unfair it is for families to work hard, raise children and pay taxes, without having a vote in Congress. The White House said Tuesday that Obama's official vehicles will begin using the symbolic license plates during the inauguration this weekend.

President Bill Clinton also made the symbolic gesture by putting the tags on his limousine. Local activists and city officials have asked Obama to support efforts to give the district representation in Congress and more control over its budget.
