Bill Richardson: Obama Deserves Second Term, Clinton 'Still Angry' at Him

Former N.M. Governor Bill Richardson talks about Bill Clinton's recent comments with Juan Williams.

Former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is defending President Bill Clinton’s recent comments that many politicos have perceived as “undermining” President Obama.

In a Fox News Latino exclusive, Juan Williams spoke to Richardson about a variety of topics including former President Clinton’s praising of GOP front runner Mitt Romney’s work at Bain Capital.

“The man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold," said Clinton on CNN a few weeks ago.

“I think [President Clinton] is expressing his views, he’s a moderate on business issues,” Richardson told Williams. “I think he’s making a point that President Obama need to be more economic growth, more pro business. But I think it’s a legitimate debate within the party.”

Richardson went on to say he doesn’t think former President Clinton expressing his views should be viewed as “disloyal.”

Richardson served as ambassador to the United Nations and energy secretary during the Clinton administration.

When Williams mentioned his endorsement of then Sen. Barack Obama over then Sen. Hillary Clinton, a move that former Clinton advisor James Carville called “an act of betrayal” and compared Richardson to Judas, Richardson didn’t hedge.

“He’s still angry,” Richardson said smiling.

Richardson went on to express that he has no regrets when it comes to the decision he made.

“I still think my endorsement of President Obama, I’m very happy with.  I saw something special with him,” said Richardson.

“I think that specialty that I saw, the new kind of candidate is still there,” said Richardson.

The former governor also said that the Republican Party’s actions have been responsible for keeping President Obama from completing his promises and that’s why he deserves a second term.

“I think Republicans have blocked so many of the good things he’s wanted to do," Richardson said. "So I think a second term is needed for that full potential to be filled.”
