President Obama says he's not paying attention to the GOP 2012 debates, and that he's going to "wait until everyone is voted off the island."
The one-liner generated laughter at a taping of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Tuesday where Leno asked if he's been watching. Obama squeezed the appearance into his west coast swing that included stops in Las Vegas and Denver pushing his jobs bill.
He's also doing some campaign fundraising on the trip.
There has been a GOP debate nearly every week this fall, and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has said previously the president has opted to skip them, either watching sports instead or reading news reports about the debates later.
His campaign staff has been actively engaged in criticizing Republican candidates, holding conference calls and issuing statements and rebuttals to their plans.
Obama himself though says he's waiting for one or two candidates, and then "I'll start paying attention," he told Leno.
