New Jersey Governor Chris Christie today met in New York City with a number of Republican fundraisers who urged him to seek the 2012 GOP Presidential nomination.

Home Depot co-founder Kenneth Langone organized the gathering and someone who attended said there were 40-50 Republican heavy hitters in attendance, both in person and calling in by phone.

It was described as a who's who A-list of successful fundraisers on the Republican side. The meeting lasted over an hour and there were a number of people encouraging Governor Christie to reconsider his position on running for President in 2012 and making very strong pleas as to why he should run.

The New Jersey Governor has repeatedly and forcefully said he will not seek his party's nomination. According to someone at the meeting, Christie did not jump up and say he was running. He indicated he appreciated what they had to say and noted his decision not to run is based on a number of factors, including his four children.
