A senior U.S. official says the Obama Administration has received requests from the new Egyptian government to freeze the assets of top aides of former President Hosni Mubarak.

According to the official, the administration had received the requests regarding certain officials in the Mubarak regime but the request was not specific to the ousted president himself.

The official added that the Treasury Department is looking at the request and will make a decision on the matter in the coming days.
