UPDATE: The Reagan-themed float won the National Trophy for best depiction of life in the United States, past present or future at Saturday's Tournament of Roses Parade.

The 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade will feature its first entry inspired by a president, as the Reagan Presidential Foundation celebrates Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday by building a float dedicated to him. The former president was born on February 6, 1911.

The 55-foot long and 26-foot high float will be covered with 11 photos depicting memorable Reagan moments. Each float in the Tournament of Roses Parade must be made from natural materials, and the black-and-white "photos" will be made out of poppy seeds and rice.

Sculptures of Reagan and a bald eagle will be featured on the float and it will also be adorned with 65,000 red roses. Reagan named red roses America's national flower in 1986.

The Jelly Belly candy company, maker of Reagan's beloved jelly beans, is sponsoring the float that will roll down Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California on Saturday.
