President Obama will sign the massive tax bill he and Republicans negotiated on Friday afternoon before live TV cameras.
Mr. Obama threw himself into the lion's den when he conceded to estate and high-income tax provisions, which his party fiercely opposed. The president chalked it up to the nature of compromise.
In the end, the House and Senate each passed an unaltered version of the package. The legislation is headed to the White House Friday, where Mr. Obama will make a statement and sign it into law.
