Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., is poised to accept perhaps the least desirable job in Washington as the head of her party's campaign committee for 2012, during which Democrats must defend twice the number of seats as their GOP counterparts, sources tell Fox.

Murray has mulled taking the job and still has not formally accepted, according to Democratic aides, but it is expected that she will.

The move, first reported by Roll Call, puts to rest a long and arduous search by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who has tried for months to get a taker for the Herculean task.

Sens. Mark Warner, D-Va., Mike Bennet, D-Colo., Al Franken, D-Minn., all turned down the job, sometimes multiple times.
