Carly Fiorina, the Republican candidate for Senate in California, was released from a Los Angeles area hospital on Wednesday, a day after being admitted for an infection related to a past breast cancer treatment.
Fiorina plans to spend the night at her Los Altos Hills home and campaign aides say she will resume a full campaign schedule by Thursday.
"Carly is grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and prayers from so many Californians," said Deborah Bowker, Fiorina's chief of staff, in a statement released earlier Wednesday.
Fiorina was diagnosed with breast cancer in February of 2009 and underwent a double mastectomy.
The infection took the former Hewlett-Packard CEO off the trail for nearly two days during the final push of a very tight race with incumbent Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer.
The latest polling has shown Boxer surging, with the Real Clear Politics average putting her ahead of Fiorina by 6.4 percent.
However, Republicans still think the race is very much in play, with the National Republican Senatorial Committee pouring another $3 million dollars into the race for the final week. That brings the NRSC contribution to California Senate race to $7.8 million, the most the committee is spending on any race across the country.
