President Obama to Hold Press Conference Next Friday

President Obama will take questions from reporters next Friday, September 10th, one day before the 9th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. This will be the President's first solo press conference at the White House since May 27th, and his 8th solo press conference at the White House since taking office.

He has taken questions from the press, however, in other circumstances. For example, President Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron held a joint news conference at the White House on July 20th, and the President did a solo q&a with the press at the G-8/G-20 summits in Toronto, Canada on June 27th.

Mr. Obama is going into the fall and the upcoming midterm elections with the economic recovery, "not happening as fast as he would like it to," according to Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. The President said in his Oval Office address on Tuesday that "our most urgent task is to restore our economy, and put the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs back to work."

The President will start his week with a Labor Day event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and then will travel to Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday to give a speech on the economy.
