The son of the U.S. Senate majority leader is running for governor of Nevada -- but you'd never know it from looking at his latest campaign ad or his website.

In Rory Reid's first campaign advertisement, there is no mention at all of his last name. Instead, youngsters just urge voters to support "Rory" in the ad about education.

The same is true on Reid's website, where even in the biography section there is no mention of his relationship to father Harry Reid.

The senior Reid is up for reelection in November and finds himself in a serious fight to hold onto his Senate seat. The Senate majority leader is widely seen among political experts as one of the most vulnerable incumbent senators in the country.

The health care legislation Reid stewarded through the Senate earlier this year does not poll well in Nevada.

But the race is still close. A Real Clear Politics average of polls shows Reid trailing his conservative Republican opponent Sharron Angle by 1.3 percent.

Calls to Rory Reid campaign officials have not yet been returned.
