President Obama begins his Thursday by receiving the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed. The President will then receive a briefing on the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Cabinet Room. This meeting is also closed.

The President will later meet with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Harry Reid, Senator Mitch McConnell, Congressman John Boehner, and Congressman Steny Hoyer in the Cabinet Room to discuss the upcoming work period, the economy and the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with the family members of those killed on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the State Dining Room to offer his condolences in person. The President sent a letter to each of the families extending the invitation and sharing his heartfelt sympathy on their tragic loss. This meeting is closed.

Later, the President will meet with Senator Specter in the Oval Office. The President will then meet with Secretary of the Treasury Geithner in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed.

Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with business leaders and energy experts to discuss energy reform in the Roosevelt Room. This meeting is closed.

The Vice President and Dr. Biden will be in Nairobi, Kenya, and Johannesburg, South Africa.

In the afternoon, the Bidens will depart Kenya en route South Africa. At 10:00a.m. ET the Vice President will meet privately with former South African President Thabo Mbeki to discuss implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in Sudan and the situation in Darfur.

In the evening, the Vice President and Dr. Biden will attend the FIFA Kick-off Celebration Concert at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
