White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters in Wednesday's briefing that he informed the President at about 1:55pm of the Holocaust Museum shooting. President Obama asked about the security guard who was shot and injured and expressed concern about the situation and for the security guard that had been hurt. Gibbs said he briefed the President with the facts as he had them and the only details were that "somebody had gone in with a gun, shot at a security guard. Security guard shot at the individual that came in."

Gibbs was asked about coordination with Homeland Security and said the White House gets regular updates from the situation room and will continue to receive information throughout the day.
