A press aide to House Republican Whip Eric Cantor has apologized for circulating a profanity-laced Web video spoofing a major union that was critical of the GOP.

The video was sent Wednesday in response to an ad from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees that pressured congressional Republicans to support the economic recovery package.

The original ad singled out Cantor, R-Va., accusing him and other Republican leaders of "playing politics" with the stimulus plan.

Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring countered with a Web video of his own mashing up a labor ad from the '70s with a voice-over by a make-believe, wise-guy union boss.

"There's a union out there called AFSCME and they're bustin' their balls for you doing all the s--t work you take for granted," the narrator says. "We pick up your f-----g garbage ... we plug up the holes in the road so you don't f--k up your car."

The narrator concludes: "We don't take s--t from nobody. You got that, a--hole?"

Dayspring, in a statement making its way around the blogs, apologized for the video and said it was "in no way an official response from Congressman Cantor, but instead an inappropriate e-mail."

He continued: "Let me be clear, we know people are hurting in these trying times and House Republicans completely agree that we must pass an economic recovery bill that preserves, protects and create jobs for Americans facing these economic challenges."
