Move over Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston, there is a starlet who outshines you both; at least when it comes to her outstanding ice skating rink of a wedding ring. Actress and newlywed Blake Lively showed off her impressive sparkler in public this week at the Chanel Bijoux De Diamant 80th Anniversary Party in New York City. It was the first time the ring had been seen since Lively's marriage to Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Reynolds last month in South Carolina.

Reynolds is known for heating up the big screen with a seductive charm that has won the hearts of women all over the world. Yet the Canadian actor is not a swinging Hollywood bachelor in search of a good time girl, instead he appears to prefer a life of wedded bliss.

"The Green Lantern" star was famously married to movie siren Scarlett Johansson for three years until their union fizzled. On July 1, 2010 he spoke about the heartbreak of his divorce, vowing that he would not be deterred from finding love again…

Fast forward to 2012.

In September People.com announced that Reynolds wed actress Lively on September 9 after a quiet, year long courtship.

If this was Reynolds’ first marriage no one would raise an eyebrow however it seems he may be establishing a romantic pattern that Hollywood has seen before in the likes of Kelsey Grammer, Bruce Jenner and Billy Bob Thornton; all of whom have been married at least three times and each of who fell in love rapidly then tied the knot in a matter of months just like Reynolds did with his first wife and now with Lively.

The previously mentioned men, minus Reynolds, are all part of an unofficial brotherhood, one that I can't help but call "the habitual husbands’ club."  With the men in this club, just as the ink dries on their official divorce decree, they're already off and running and have chosen a new wife. Should Reynolds’ union with Lively dissolve, the likelihood that he will re-marry -- and fast -- is high. That's why I am keeping my eye on him as a potential member of the club.

Reynolds and Johansson began dating in February 2007 and announced their engagement in May 2008. Reynolds and Lively started to see each other only a year ago and just like that, they’re married!

Perhaps the popular actor has finally found what he is looking for. After all, who am I to question this man and woman’s love for each other but there is something to be said about noticing patterns.

So why do I care? Because marriage is a sacred institution that should not be entered into hastily especially in a society where pre-marital sex is mostly accepted.  The idea that you have to wed before you take someone to bed is outdated.  So, why do some divorced men still have the need to "date for a mate" repeatedly especially when so many men harbor fantasies about re-capturing their youthful single days?

It could be that society’s belief that most men would rather date several women than settle down is a myth.  Most men, particularly previously married men, may have found solace in having a partner; someone who was their companion, lover and confidante.

When an integral person like a spouse is no longer in our life, it leaves a gaping hole that only so many guys’ nights out can fill.  Men like Reynolds maybe searching for what was lost; their sense of home, happiness and security in the form of a new person rather than seeking to find it  within.

Here’s hoping that this time around the actor’s quest for a long-lasting union comes to fruition and that he never has to join the membership roster of the habitual husbands’ club.
