Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific coast has a Family Escape package, with rates starting at $169. Their Secretos de la Familia program includes Secretos de Mar, where from January to April, guests can observe the humpback whales that come to Banderas Bay to give birth. Whale watching tours guided by a bilingual specialist are available in the morning and afternoon. Of course, you can always lighten things up at the kids program with a pie in the face...

The resort's "Love Your Family" package provides guests with accommodations in connecting rooms when booking two rooms or more and a $50 daily hotel credit. Rates start at $295 per night.

Cancun, Mexico

The main attraction for many families at the Gran Caribe Real Cancun is the Oki Splash Waterpark where kids can channel their inner pirate. The resort itself is family friendly, all-suite, and all-inclusive. Rates start as low as $139 per night for one or two adults sharing a suite, and one child 12 and under is free. The resort's kids club Oki Fun World offers a full day of activities including innovative theater programs and craft programs. There's also the T-Zone, a club for older kids.

Costa Rica

The Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa has an "Authentically Local" package that features cultural experiences unique to each destination. For families looking for complete immersion in the local culture, each guest receives a pin identifying the guest as an "Authentically Local" participant. Team members will then speak to the guest only in the local language. The resort also offers a slew of kids' activities, indoor and outdoor. Rates start at $389 per night for this all-inclusive resort. For children 4-12, a rate of $49 per night will be added. Children under 4 stay and eat free.

The San Juan Isla Verde Beach Resort is a 240-room beachfront destination that's totally family friendly, with a dedicated kids' pool, toddler pool, playground, arcade, and ice cream bar. Rates start at $129/night for a double room.
