Some holidays are celebrated with fireworks, some are celebrated with parades, and others are celebrated by falling asleep in the backyard with a half-eaten meatball sandwich resting on your belly.
National Hammock Day is an example of that last kind.
In honor of today's little-known (and even lesser-appreciated) holiday, we reached out to Design*Sponge for a handy tutorial on making a fine backyard hammock. D*S editor Kate Pruitt crafted the one above from a big beach towel and straps of natural leather, resulting in a fun, functional and comfortable place to relax.
Head over to Design*Sponge for Kate's tutorial (and to get started on that meatball sandwich).
