Looking to add a little pizzazz to your holiday party table? Try carving out some seasonal vegetables such as pumpkins or squash to use as serving dishes.  "Accidental Housewife" Julie Edelman shows us how it's done in the video above.

The best part? When you're done with the serving, toss them in the trash. No dishwashing necessary.

Here are some of Julie's serving suggestions:

  • A medium-sized carved out squash can hold pre-packaged dips like hummus, or used to serve side dishes like cranberry sauce or vegetables.
  • Use a large, hollowed-out pumpkin to serve soup. You may want to line the pumpkin with aluminum foil to preserve heat and flavor.
  • Smaller pumpkins make great individual serving bowls.
  • Tops of pumpkins and squash can be used as lids to keep hot food warm.
