You can call it an Express Line to Jesus.

On Ash Wednesday thousands of busy Catholics sacrifice their lunch breaks
and mass  for a quick chance to get their holy ashes at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the heart of New York City.

Over , and over, and over again 50,000 foreheads are crisscrossed from 7 am till 7pm at night. That’s 30 pounds of ashes.

For busy New Yorkers the express line is a blessing.

But others just don’t like it.  They say Mass is a must… the express line to ashes undermines the importance of the holy day.
