Approximately 100 young people locked lips in Santiago de Chile's Plaza de Armas on Thursday, in a gathering they called a “kissing protest.” The smoochy students -- who startled the kids and old people that usually call the park their own -- said they were calling for free, quality, public education, a demand students have been asking for during the last three months. How seriously they were focused on that purpose is questionable: Student protest leaders apparently did not attend. But the seriousness with which they pursued the kissing is pretty clear from the video—one couple even had to sit down from the exertion.
