Radio Controlled racing car specialist Traxxas has introduced a new model that has top speed of 100 mph. The company claims it is the fastest production R/C car in the world.

And it’s quick, too. The 1/7 scale car can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds. That’s quicker than the world’s fastest real car, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.

Like the Bugatti, the XO-1 has all-wheel-drive and an independent suspension. Its bodywork was designed by computer to produce aerodynamic downforce making it stable at high speeds. It even has a vent molded into its flat underbody tray to direct cooling air to the car’s electric motor.

The pistol-grip remote control can be linked to an iPhone equipped with the Traxxas Link app, which offers real-time telemetry including speed, rpm, temperature and battery voltage. It’s required to unlock the XO-1’s top speed.

The price is just as high, $1099. Considering a Veyron costs $3 million…well, it’s still not a bargain, but if you love speed it might still be worth it.
