A first date nearly turned tragic for one Kansas City woman and her date after he fell face-first on the restaurant’s marble floor, PEOPLE reported. Luckily, Janie Hall, of Joplin, knew CPR and ended up saving her unnamed date's life.
PEOPLE reported that Hall met her date a few weeks prior on the Plenty of Fish dating site and they had agreed to meet on April 7.

Hall told the website the pair bonded over his social and volunteer work.
Near the end of their date, he began coughing and had stood up to excuse himself, PEOPLE reported.
“We weren’t eating so I knew he wasn’t choking,” she told the website. “I turned my head to the side to give him some privacy and then the next thing I knew there were dishes falling onto the side of my booth.”
Hall, a former respiratory therapist, hailed their server, Becca Bartholomew and began chest compressions and CPR. Another restaurant staffer called 911 for help.
“I checked for a pulse again and he had a weak pulse,” Hall told PEOPLE.

Hall said she followed the ambulance and called the hospital the next day. She eventually connected with her date’s daughter and was invited to visit him on April 10, according to the news outlet.
“He looked amazing,” Hall told PEOPLE. “And he remembered everything about our conversation at the restaurant. I told him, ‘I never got to thank you for the meal,’ and he said ‘Oh my God, you saved my life!’”
Hall, who started a GoFundMe page for her date to help him cover medical expenses, said that doctors have not determined what caused him to collapse, but that she has agreed to a second date once he recovers.
“I was extremely honored,” she told PEOPLE of his second date request. “What means the most to me is that he works on his health and wellness right now.”
