Women believe the deeper a man’s voice; the more likely he will be to cheat on her, health24.com reported.

A study, published online in the journal Evolutionary Psychology, takes a look at the link between one’s voice pitch and perceived infidelity – and how we choose our mates.

The study also found that men think women who have a higher voice are more likely to cheat as well.

“In terms of sexual strategy, we found that men and women will use voice pitch as a warning sign of future betrayal,” said Jillian O’Connor, a graduate student at the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behavior at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and lead author of the study.

“So the more attractive the voice – a higher pitch for women and lower pitch for men – the more likely the chances he or she will cheat,” O’Connor added.

People who participated in the study listened to different versions of recordings from a male voice and a female voice, which were manipulated to be higher and lower in pitches. After listening, the participants were asked which one would be more likely to sexually cheat on their partner.
