Breathalyzer technology isn’t just for testing blood alcohol levels anymore. A version of the device is being used to help with weight loss, MyFoxHouston reported.
The ReeVue Indirect Calorimeter is used like a breathalyzer in a 10-minute test that checks your metabolic rate and helps figure out how many calories you need to ingest daily to maintain or lose weight.
It works by measuring the amount of oxygen your body uses in a rested state, and calculates that amount over a 24-hour period. Then, a comprehensive report is printed out to explain your results.
The device can be found at select health clubs and doctor’s offices.
