Where to Get Free (or Discounted) Food on Tax Day

By now, you've probably sent in your tax return, and possibly a big 'ol check for Uncle Sam. If it's any consolation, at least that money will help fund many of the worthwhile (and not-so-worthwhile) government and local projects our communities so direly need.

But who cares about all that?!? All we know is that Uncle Sam took a big bite out of our income this year, and we want something in return, dag-nabbit!

Luckily, a number of the nation's restaurants have heard our pleas, and they're offering us a bit of a break at the cash register. So if you're hungry for something more immediate than a public works project, here's 10 great deals to take advantage of before the day is through:

•Arby's is offering a free "snack-sized" order of curly fries to customers who present a coupon.

•Head to the and of the nation's Hard Rock Cafes for a chance to "Sing For Your Supper" between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Patrons who belt out an entire song on the restaurant's live music stage can choose a free meal from their new menu.

•The folks at Schlotzky's Deli are offering a free "The Original" sandwich to customers who purchase their own chips and 32-ounce drink.

•Visit any Great American Cookies location for a free chocolate chip cookie. No other purchases neccessary.

•Utter the phrase "taxes shmaxes" at any California Tortilla restaurant to redeem a free order of chips and queso to accompany any purchase. Offer valid while supplies last.

•Present this coupon at any participating Chili's Bar and Grill locations for a free appetizer or dessert (or kids meal) along with the purchase of an entree. Offer valid through April 17.

•Sonic restaurants are offering half-price drinks and slushies all day long on April 15.

•While not exactly free, Boston Market is offering two half-chicken meals for the price of just $10.40. No coupons neccessary.

•Similarly, Bruegger's Bagels is offering a Big Bagel Bundle — that's 13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese — for the price of just $10.40. Customer must first "like" their Facebook page and print a coupon.

•Get 15 percent off any order at White Castle restaurant by presenting this coupon at the register.
