Evan Parker, master distiller at Turkey Shore Distilleries, makes one of the only New England rums available today and developed what he calls “a red, white & blue drink for America's team.” According to Parker, the Old Ipswich Patriot is a drink with history. But whatever its pedigree, the cocktail, served up at the Ipswich Sports Bar in Ipswich, Mass. and the Bradford Tavern in Rowley, Mass. is a layered creation with five ingredients – one for each of Tom Brady's trips to the Super Bowl. The molasses and vanilla notes of the rum dominate, combining with the sweet ginger and Blue Curacao to offer up a surprisingly complex tipple that's nearly as pretty as Brady himself.

Total Time:

Servings: 1

Ingredients:

1/2 ounce grenadine

1 1/2 ounce Old Ipswich White Cap Rum

1/4 ounce blue curacao

1/2 ounce Peachtree schnapps

Ginger Ale

Preparation:

Fill the bottom of a lowball glass with the grenadine, then pour the rum carefully over the back of a spoon to layer on top of the grenadine. Add the ginger ale nearly to the top of the glass and then layer in the Blue Curacao and schnapps. It's not quite as difficult to build as the Patriots dynasty has been, but the results are just as worthwhile.
