Cadbury Creme Egg getting some real competition from Reese's

Chew on This: This insane candy mashup isn't out in stores until July

The Cadbury Crème Egg has a new neighbor in the candy aisle — or should we should call it a friendly competitor?

The seasonal sweet, which has long been one of the most popular egg-shaped candies on the shelf, may have some serious holiday-time competition from a brand-new Reese's treat this Easter.

And no, we're not talking about Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs.

This spring, Reese’s is debuting their new Reese's Peanut Butter Crème Egg.

A spokesperson from Reese's described it as a "three dimensional egg, filled with Reese’s signature Peanut Butter, covered in creamy milk chocolate."

Is this the real life... Is this just fantasy... #HolyEasterEgg #ReesesEgg

Reese’s fan are already taking to social media to share their excitement, with one even quoting Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and describing the event as a "fantasy."

Another excited fan has already declared a clear winner in the sugary showdown, writing, "Who needs Cadbury?" under his post.

Could this be the beginning of an Easter-candy coup?

Reese’s new the crème filled eggs are currently being sold at Walmart locations across the U.S., according to Spoon University. The site also confirmed that a five-pack of the eggs is priced at $3.48.

Of course, whether you choose Cadbury Creme Eggs or the new Reese's treat, one company will reign supreme in the Easter basket. Hershey's owns both brands in the U.S.
