Food and sex may be two of life’s greatest pleasures but what would you pick if you could only have one?
According to a new survey from MiumMium, a marketplace for on-demand chefs, three out of 10 people would choose the best meal of their lives over a night of great lovemaking.
Kate Levenstein, the CEO & Founder of Cannonball Productions--which runs the annual Bacon and Beer Classic-- says she thinks life’s carnal pleasures go hand in hand.
“It’s the same part of your brain that triggers the excitement, the pleasure,” Levenstein told Fox Foodie, explaining that the age old debate of food versus sex goes back to mankind’s most basic instincts.
MiumMium surveyed over 1,200 adults at the beginning of April and found that while over 28 percent of adults would choose food over sex, 35 percent of respondents would take the best sex and go hungry.
Lest you think men and women diverge on the issue, both sexes had roughly the same feelings on the food versus sex conundrum. Forty-eight percent of and 49 percent of women would prefer the best sex of their life. But roughly 28 percent of both sexes chose the best meal first.
Chef and restaurateur Ken Oringer of Toro and Uni isn’t quite sure what to make of the survey but thinks meals and sexy time shouldn’t be exclusionary.
“You know I’m a chef, I want compromise,” said Oringer. “You have to loosen up a little bit and you have to feel good.”
His big advice? “Don’t overeat and then go get some action.”
