Karina Oritz may not yet be a household name, but the show she’s on, "Orange is the New Black" is a Netflix juggernaut, and her character, is about to take off.

The beautiful New York-bred Dominican actress plays Margarita, the girlfriend of Cesar, played by actor, Berto Colon. Now entering its fourth season, OITNB promises a lot more for Ortiz’s character going forward.

Though she wouldn’t divulge details about what Margarita will be doing next season, she did say she’d have a larger role on the hot show.

“What I can say is that it’s really juicy and I think it’s really interesting where they took this character,” she told Fox News Latino. “I’m excited to share that for season four.”

Ortiz, 31, got her start in the theater. She was in the Off-Broadway play “Platoons y Collard Greens,” and her first TV opportunity was playing the sister of Hamilton star and creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda on NBC’s “Do No Harm.”

She is a graduate of the theater program at City College of New York.

Ortiz is open to returning to her roots in the theater, but off-camera she mentioned venturing out to Hollywood to see what develops.

She said she’s positive enthusiasm for the show will continue as it begins its fourth season.

“It’s become sort of a cult show and every season it’s different,” she said. “And every season there is something different to love about it. It’s already caused a movement with everyone who is on the show, the diversity, all the women... It’s showing everyone that kind of power is possible.”

As a Latina actress in the industry, she says she’s hopeful about the future for women of color.

“Coming out of college it was more about how can I pass for something else. What could I do so they could look at me and maybe cast me for something,” Ortiz said. “I feel like now they are seeing we have power in numbers and we should be considered for anything and everything.”
