Johnny Depp, Charlie Sheen's 'Platoon' reunion

Published September 27, 2017

New York Post

Charlie Sheen, Johnny Depp and Kevin Dillon enjoyed a “Platoon” reunion party at Depp’s Hollywood Hills home on Sunday to mark the film’s 30-year anniversary.

The movie premiered on Dec. 24, 1986.

Sheen, 51, starred as morally conflicted Private First Class Chris Taylor. Depp, 54, played a translator named Lerner, though most of his footage ended up being cut from the final film, while Dillon, 51, played Bunny.

“Platoon” was Sheen’s star vehicle, winning Best Picture in 1987. It was the first of director and Vietnam vet Oliver Stone’s Vietnam War film trilogy, which also includes “Born on the Fourth of July” and “Heaven & Earth.”
