Ex-VJ Jesse Camp back on MTV

Published April 28, 2016

New York Post

Remember Jesse Camp?

He’s that beyond-kooky TV personality who took his place in pop-culture history — and many a teenage girl’s heart — after winning MTV’s “Wanna Be a VJ” contest back in 1998.

Flash forward nearly 20 years and Camp’s trying his hand at being a Page Six reporter — well, sort of. We recently ran into the now-36-year-old in front of The Post’s New York offices, and he gave us his version of a gossip report — which was nothing short of out-there.

Still rocking ridiculously colorful clothing and that signature long hair — now falling over his shoulders instead of spiked up into a massive ‘do like during his MTV days — Camp dished on practically all of morning TV’s ladies before things got really loopy.

“I’m zipping it ’cause I am on a very bad acid trip at the moment and I think I’m being interviewed for the New York Post — so clearly I’m not in my right head,” he closed the interview, making what seemed like a joke. (Camp has previously said he’s been sober since 2009.)

If this video footage doesn’t give you enough of a nostalgic Camp fix, he’s also back working with MTV. The network tells us Camp is doing some host wraps for a recently launched “TRL” throwback segment, called “TBTRL,” for MTV’s SnapChat Discover channel in the US.
