Being perfect sometimes just isn't enough.
Just ask Carlos PeñaVega, who earned perfect scores and gushing praise from the judges on Monday night for his moves on ABC's “Dancing with the Stars,” but got the boot anyway.
Despite his stellar performance, PeñaVega, an actor and singer, did not get enough votes to hang on for the season’s finale, which kicks off on Tuesday.
PeñaVega’s wife, Alexa, who was in “Spy Kids,” was eliminated from the show two weeks ago.
They were the show’s first married couple. His wife also closed our her time on "DWTS" getting kicked out despite a perfect score.
PeñaVega later took to Instagram to reflect on the experience of being on the popular show.
“What an incredible finale tonight was! So many amazing numbers … I laughed ... I cried … It was truly an amazing night! To the rest of the couples left … I am so excited for you! You are all at rehearsal as I type this ... You are almost there … Give it all you got! I will be rooting for you tomorrow night! Sending you my love. And so many thanks for everything you have taught me these pay few months! Love love love you guys!”
PeñaVega, who rose to prominence after starring in the Nickelodeon musical, “Big Time Rush,” will star in the television remake of the musical, “Grease,” in which he plays Danny Zuko's buddy, Kenickie.
His elimination leaves the conservationist Bindi Irwin, singer Nick Carter and U.S. National Army guardsman Alex Skarlatos. They will compete Tuesday for the coveted mirror ball trophy.
PeñaVega thanked his partner, pro dancer Witney Carson, for her role in his successful run on the show. Their final performance consisted of Foxtrot and Freestyle dances.
In his blog about the show for People Magazine, PeñaVega wrote, before his last dance, “I had an amazing hiatus after 'Big Time Rush,' but doing this show has reinvigorated my desire to work hard. I'm going to miss the intense cardio workouts of rehearsals and waking up every morning to push my boundaries and learn something new.”
“Even after this experience is over, I'm going to find ways to continue to do all that,” he wrote. “Getting this far is an incredible feeling. I am so thankful for this opportunity. If I go home tonight, I'm going home very pleased with what I've learned and what I've done.”
