Courtney Love Cobain was among those caught up in the airport tensions when French taxis went on a nationwide strike Thursday, according to a litany of tweets she sent Thursday afternoon.
The star said picketers attacked her car and she was unable to leave to airport.
"they've ambushed our car and are holding our driver hostage. they're beating the cars with metal bats. this is France?? I'm safer in Baghdad," she wrote.
The rock and roll singer posted a video of several men surrounding the car she was in.
“how on earth are these people allowed to do this? the first car was destroyed, all tires slashed and beat with bats, these guys trying to open the doors and the cops are doing nothing?? French Taliban? civil reform needed in France?? I want to go home”
Love wrote that she managed to get out of the chaos thanks to some motorcycle drivers.
“paid some guys on motorcycles to sneak us out, got chased by a mob of taxi drivers who threw rocks, passed two police and they did nothing”
“we got out after being held hostage for an hour thanks to these two guys. I'm scared out of my wits. Mr. François Hollande president or libertine? I can't believe this really just happened. love French people but your government blows #happytobealive #parisuberstrike”
The strike on Thursday snarled traffic in major cities after weeks of rising, sometimes violent tensions over Uber. Images from around the city captured a sense of the taxis' rage, with an Uber-style livery car overturned, others with tires slashed and windshields covered with a web of cracks.
