Not so long ago, it seemed like celebrity sex tapes where hitting the virtual shelves every five minutes. From Kim Kardashian to Farrah Abraham, the adult video category had no shortage of stars.
But recently, the celeb sex tape well seemed to have run dry, until news came Monday that Vivid Entertainment had gotten its hands on a Courtney Stodden solo sex tape and was trying to get it online.
Company president Steven Hirsch told FOX411 that Stodden’s video “came to us from a third party” and he doesn’t know “if the third party knows Courtney or not.”
“I have not been in contact with Courtney but I hope to be,” Hirsch said. “I have not spoken to her momager or her husband or anyone connected to Courtney.”
Stodden, 20, is managed by her mother, and has as relationship with much older actor Doug Hutchison, who she married at age 16 in 2011 and divorced two years later.
Hirsch said he is “going to move forward and try to distribute” the video and denied that interest in celeb sex tapes has ebbed.
"It goes in waves, and sometimes it happens more frequently, and sometimes there’s a gap when we see these tapes come up,” he said. “I don’t think celebs are a thing of the past.”
He did however acknowledge that “it has been a while” since he’s seen one.
Until Stodden’s, that is.
