Blake Shelton may be a huge country star, but even he knows better than to compete with Miranda Lambert– especially since she’s his wife!

Shelton sat down with Jimmy Kimmel recently to talk about what it’s like to be married to a women who often gets nominated for the same awards as he does. Shelton says that despite all their shared success, it’s never a good idea to try to one-up his wife.

"It doesn't do good for me to be competitive with her,” he tells Kimmel, adding that his reasoning is sound especially when it comes to getting what he wants. “We’re married … I’m still trying to get laid sometimes!”

Shelton does admit that Lambert can get competitive with him, and his response is just to “let her roll right over me.” And while part of his reasoning for this comes from genuine love for his wife, some of it just might come from genuine fear, too!

More On This...

“All her music is about killing guys and burning their houses down and beating up people … that’s my wife!” he says with equal parts pride and panic. “What do you want me to do? I’m not going to challenge her!”

Well, lucky for Shelton, there’s plenty of space on country radio and in fans’ hearts for him and Lambert … so long as he stays on her good side!
