Eva Longoria, who has become as big a star in the political scene as she is in Hollywood, didn’t hold back when asked about immigration.
At the New York premiere of her upcoming documentary “Food Chains,” which focuses on the lives of tomato farm workers in Florida, Longoria said she didn’t know about the specifics of the plan but said it was something that needed to get done.
“It’s hard to comment because I don’t know what it’s containing or what it’s going to have,” Longoria told Fox News Latino on Tuesday. “I do think that some action needs to be taken and if Congress isn’t willing to do it, we need to explore all options.”
The Obama administration announced Wednesday that the president would be unveiling his long-awaited plans for executive action during a primetime address to the nation from Las Vegas.
While details of the executive action are not yet clear, political analysts believe that it could shield up to 5 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States from deportation.
Obama, in a video released on Facebook, said while everyone agrees that the immigration system is broken, Washington has allowed the problem “to fester for too long.”
"What I'm going to be laying out is the things that I can do with my lawful authority as president to make the system better, even as I continue to work with Congress and encourage them to get a bipartisan, comprehensive bill that can solve the entire problem," Obama said.
