Miley Cyrus continued her onstage antics in her kickoff concert in the Mexican leg of her Bangerz Tour with some spit and a Mexican flag.
The 21-year-old singer sang in front of a sold-out crowd at the Arena Monterey Wednesday night and was up to her usual shenanigans of twerking, dancing and bringing some unusual characters on stage. Nothing all the alarming – for Cyrus, at least – until she got on stage with a fake booty and had a backup dancer slap her butt with a Mexican flag.
Her actions blew up on social media where people asked if she should or could be fined for using patriotic symbols incorrectly.
According to the country’s law regarding patriotic symbols, like the national anthem and the flag, the singer could be fined 250 minimum salaries or arrested for up to 36 hours.
The fake (and large) booty was first introduced by the singer at her Puerto Rican concert over the weekend.
During the Mexico concert, Cyrus also gulped down some water and spit it at her fans – which was first met with shouts of joy before disgust.
The “Wrecking Ball” singer’s tour in Latin America is not new to controversy. Cyrus was scheduled to perform in the Dominican Republic last week, but the government in the Caribbean Island banned her, citing moral reasons.
Cyrus will perform once more in Monterey Thursday night, before heading to Mexico City, followed by Guadalajara.
