Simon Cowell wants to find the next ‘Menudo’ band and is making another music competition to get there.

The executive producer and TV personality announced Tuesday his company Syco Entertainment is developing a boyband competition for Spanish-language network Univision.

“La Banda” will search across the United States and Latin America to put together the “ultimate Latino boyband.” The winning group will get a record contract with Sony Music Latin and Syco Music – the latter being home of Cowell’s wonder boys “One Direction.”

“I am delighted to be partnering with Univision on this new format,” said Cowell, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “They are fantastically ambitious and, most importantly for ‘La Banda,’ they are totally focused on discovering and creating the next music superstars. There is a huge opportunity for this band, and we are going to be giving the power – via this show – to the millions of teenage fans.”

There is no word on who will serve on the judges’ panel, but it is slated for a 2015 premiere on Univision.

This new show is the first big sale for Cowell since FOX canceled the “X Factor” in January. The music mogul is also producing a DJ talent show.
