Salma Hayek’s brother could cost her some big bucks.

The 47-year-old actress and her husband, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, could be sued for a fatal crash involving the actress’ younger brother, Sami, earlier this year.

Sami Hayek was driving a Ford GT when he allegedly lost control and smashed into a truck, killing Grammy Award-winning art director Ian Cuttler, who was a passenger in the car, in late February.

According to TMZ, Cuttler’s family could sue the “Frida” actress and her husband because they are the registered owners of the car. Under California law, the registered owners are liable for any damage or injuries caused by the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles police are reportedly considering sending the case against Sami Hayek to the District Attorney for a vehicular manslaughter charge.

A search warrant obtained by the gossip site said that investigators want to look at the car’s restraint control module (RCM) – which is like a black box for cars – to determine if allegations made by eyewitnesses alleging that Sami Hayek, 40, was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, causing him to fishtail over the center line and hit a car coming in the opposite direction.

According to TMZ, the search warrant did not reveal the results of the RCM analysis.
