Demi Lovato, known for her discussing publicly her past drug abuse, is reportedly stepping down from her post as a judge on the "X Factor" show.

The 21-year-old pop singer wants to concentrate on her music career, according to People.

“She had a great run and a good time,” an unnamed source told the gossip magazine, noting that the show’s demanding schedule conflicts with Lovato’s plans for 2014, which include a nationwide tour.

The “Neon Lights” singer has served as a judge on the show for two seasons, joining Simon Cowell, Paulina Rubio and Kelly Roland this season.  She is about to headline her first arena tour, kicking off Feb. 9 in Vancouver.

The tour will also feature “X Factor” alumni Cher Lloyd, Little Mix and Fifth Harmony.

In November, Lovato, who had also a guest stint on “Glee” this season playing a love interest to Naya Rivera’s character, said it has been difficult to be in front of the camera since receiving treatment for bulimia and anorexia.

So much so that while millions watch her on TV every week, she cannot watch herself.

“It is still hard being in front of the camera when you have suffered from eating disorders, and I still don’t watch my episodes. It is hard,” Lovato said in an interview with reporters in November.

“It is a good experience, but I think ultimately my main thing is singing,” she continued. “Maybe movies once in a while if the right role comes along.”

Lovato also said that in January she is going to take a little break.

“I want to vacation! I want to watch shows on my DVR on my couch,” she said. “I need to do some exercising and I don’t really have time to do it. I love horseback riding and never get to do that stuff, but January is my time to do all of that.”

The singer’s decision to leave the show may be related to the news by the show’s producer Cowell that he is looking to shake things up next season, including adding new judges.

The British music mogul said he has recruits in mind, but he declined to identify them. He said he envisions what he called a "different kind of role" for himself, but he wouldn't be more specific.

Fox News Latino has reached out to the show's rep to confirm Lovato's departure but we have not yet heard back.
