Many “Family Guy” fans were outraged by the death of Brian Griffin, the cartoon family’s dog, and it didn’t take long for one jokester to come up with a website implying the character may be coming back.

But the website, BriansAnnouncement.com, has nothing to do with the series, producers told Deadline.com.

“The producers have confirmed that the ‘special announcement from Brian’ website is a hoax and was not created by anyone connected to the show, studio or network,” Family Guy studio 20th Century Fox TV told Deadline.

The site featured a countdown clock, which broadcast that a “Special announcement from Brian” would be coming in a matter of days.

The Seth MacFarlane comedy killed off the beloved animated character in an episode on Sunday night. Brian was hit by a car, and after his death the family got a new pooch.
