Society is safe for another two weeks.
A judge ruled on Thursday evening that Amanda Bynes will remain on a psychiatric hold for 14 more days because the out-of-control 27-year-old is still a danger to herself or others.
Bynes was taken for a mental evaluation on Monday night and was initially going to be held for 72 hours, but the judge decided that a California psychiatric hospital will have two more weeks to analyze the actress.
Meanwhile, her parents, Rick and Lynne, reportedly headed to court today to try and obtain a conservatorship over the former child star. The judge denied their request for the time being, according to TMZ. He ruled that he will not grant a conservatorship until he hears from Amanda's lawyer and doctors.
The couple’s lawyer did not immediately return FOX411’s request for comment.
The “Easy A” star was initially taken away by police after she allegedly lit a fire in a stranger’s driveway in her parents’ Thousand Oaks neighborhood, where she grew up.
Bynes was then seen on security footage rushing into a liquor store to wash off her pet Pomeranian that she apparently accidently doused in gasoline while she was trying to make the flame.
Earlier in the week, police confronted the starlet outside a retirement home in the same area after managers at the facility called them and accused her of trespassing and trying to visit the establishment while drunk.
Officials from the Ventura County Sherriff’s Department finally questioned Bynes after she was seen lighting the fire on Monday night and they took her in on a 5150 hold—an involuntary psychiatric hold.
Britney Spears was famously taken in on the same hold back in 2008 and her father, Jamie, was able to obtain a conservatorship over her after that. He has had full control over her finances and personal life ever since.
