Lindsay Lohan enters not guilty plea in lying to cops case

Lindsay Lohan's longtime lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley appeared on her behalf in a Los Angeles court today and pleaded not guilty in Lindsay's misdemeanor case stemming from allegations she lied to police officers.

Holley's appearance came as a bit of surprise, as TMZ reported on Monday that LiLo had fired Holley and hired New York attorney Mark Heller.

The judge was clearly up to date on Lohan's latest antics, and asked Holley if she would be the one representing the actress moving forward.

"Yes. At this point, yes," Holley answered.

The judge then emphasized that any confusion with Lohan's lawyers must be worked out prior to Jan. 30, when the "Liz & Dick" star is required to appear in court.

"The representation issue will be nailed down," Holley assured the judge. 

A source close to the situation told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column that tensions between Lohan and Holley have been mounting for a little while now.

Lohan has apparently been calling Holley’s office repeatedly and hysterically over past two weeks and throwing tantrums if her calls were not returned quickly enough. But we’re told that the “Mean Girls” star has been furious at her longtime lawyer since last October when emails were leaked between her father, Michael, and the Lohan team about staging an intervention to get into rehab.

It seems for the time being, however, Lohan is keeping Holley around. 

Lohan is charged with reckless driving, lying to police about whether she was driving when her Porsche slammed into the back of a dump truck, and obstructing police from performing their duties. The accident occurred while Lohan and her assistant were on their way to shoot a beach scene for the television movie "Liz and Dick."

The actress told police that she wasn't driving, but police suspect she was behind the wheel. She was on probation at the time for a 2011 necklace theft case and could be sentenced to 245 days in jail if a judge determines her conduct violated her probation.

“It’s a big mistake if Lindsay loses Shawn. But the bad blood is there now,” said an insider. “She was the one person on Lindsay’s team who stood by her.”

A rep for Lohan was not immediately able to clarify details regarding her legal representation.
