Ford’s new Super Duty pickup looks like it will live up to its name.
The redesigned heaviest hauling 2015 F-Series pickups will be offered with an updated version of Ford’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 boasting the most power in class.
The second generation engine gets a number of tweaks including new injectors and larger turbochargers tucked inside the “V” between the cylinder banks to optimize airflow and temperature control, resulting in a power output of 440 hp and 860 lb-ft of torque.
That’s up from the current engine’s 405 hp and 800 lb-ft, and better than the Ram 6.7-liter Cummins diesel’s 385 hp and 850 lb-ft -- the top torque rating in the segment today.

The same engine will also be offered at three different horsepower levels in Ford’s medium duty F-650 and F-750 trucks.
All told, Ford says the new motor will be good for a maximum gooseneck trailer tow rating of 31,200 pounds for the F-450, 26,500 pounds for fifth wheel trailers, and a gross combined weight rating of 40,000 pounds.
