An Afghan official says a bombing in a northern market has killed six people, including a young girl.
Sonatullah Timor, the spokesman for the Takhar provincial government, says the attack on Thursday was aimed at a police car but that the police escaped unharmed. He says the attack wounded 26 people, including children.
He says the bomb was planted on a motorcycle. It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack, but Taliban insurgents frequently target the country's security forces.
