Thousands of Vietnamese workers are being evacuated from Libya amid chaos from the uprising in the North African nation.
Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, director of Vietnam's Department for Overseas Labor Management, says some 2,000 Vietnamese workers are being evacuated by land to Libya's neighboring countries. They'll then be flown home.
Quynh said Friday that Vietnam's government was working with foreign contractors to bring the remaining 8,000 Vietnamese workers home.
About 10,000 Vietnamese, mostly construction workers, are employed in Libya, including some 5,000 in the capital, Tripoli.
