U.N. experts say Congolese army officers and police reported receiving pistols from a group of 30 North Korean instructors training their presidential guard and special police forces.
The report comes despite U.N. sanctions banning Pyongyang from exporting weapons or providing military training.
The U.N. panel of experts monitoring sanctions against Congo said army officers and police who used the pistols told them the weapons came from a group of 30 instructors from North Korea who trained the presidential guard and special police forces.
The same type of pistols were being sold on the black market, the panel said in excerpts from the report seen Friday by The Associated Press.
The experts also said Rwanda is continuing to train Burundian refugees with the ultimate goal of removing Burundi's president.
