Sept. 9: The M/V Magellan Star had been attacked and captured by pirates on Wednesday. A Turkish warship was the first on the scene, responding to a distress call from Magellan Star. It reportedly took the Marines an hour to subdue the pirates and retake the ship. Sept. 9: It wasn't immediately clear where the U.S. took the ship. The successful mission by Combined Maritime Forces secured the safety of the ship's crew and returned control of the Magellan Star to the civilian mariners while the 9 pirates remain on the ship awaiting transfer.U.S. Marines Retake Ship From Pirates
