Tunisian prime minister reshuffles government after attacks

Tunisia's prime minister has reshuffled the government in the wake of three deadly Islamic extremist attacks last year.

Habib Essid replaced the interior minister and foreign minister, among about a dozen changes, and abolished 14 posts. He promised to make the government more "effective."

Opposition Islamist party Ennahda retained its only seat in the government, Labor Minister Ziad Laadhari.

Tunisian authorities came under criticism for failing to prevent last year's attacks on the country's leading museum, a beach resort and the presidential guard. More than 70 people were killed — mostly foreign travelers — and the tourism industry was devastated.

The government is trying to ensure security despite uncertainty and growing Islamic State activity in neighboring Libya.
