Police in Thailand have arrested three men accused of robbing and sexually assaulting two Russian tourists on Christmas Day in the seaside town of Pattaya.

Lt. Gen. Jarumporn Suramanee said Wednesday that the women in their early 30s were forced into a pickup truck at gunpoint, then raped and robbed.

He said investigators identified the suspects from closed-circuit television at a convenience store and apprehended them Monday.

All three will be charged with robbery. Two will also face rape charges.

Pattaya, 60 miles southeast of Bangkok, is among the top destinations for foreign travelers in Thailand.

Earlier Wednesday, police said they had arrested a suspect in the death of a British tourist stuck by a stray bullet at a New Year's beach party on Koh Pa Ngan island.
